BÖNI Knurling Tools
Böni Knurling Tools function in a fundamentally different way than
conventional knurling tools. The knurling wheels machine the
workpiece tangentially 180° on opposite sides, so that there is no pressure
on the work and cross ball-bearing spindles.
The operating forces occurring are absorbed by the knurling tool,
regardless of whether it is cutting or rolling.
Depending on the quality of the material, we are able to cut
or roll the knurl with the same tool.
Böni - Knurling Tools are divided into 2 groups.
Knurling Tool Type B best used for CNC – lathes.
Knurling Tool Type R best used for conventional lathes.

These knurling tools are used for CNC- and conventional lathes. Knurls can be made by rolling or cutting. Depending on the type of knurl desired, optional sets of drivers for 0° straight or 0° straight-corner (DIN 82 RAA), 30° diamond (DIN 82 RGE) and 45° cross knurls with the same base are available. The cutting and rolling wheels are shaft-mounted in a needle roller bearing. These tools can be supplied with a standard square shank, or with special carriers. The Type B65 knurling tool is available for two ranges of knurls: Ø3 - 42mm and Ø20 - 65mm. The Type B100 knurling tool is available for the range Ø60 - 100mm. |
These versatile knurling tools are used for conventional lathes. It
can be used to roll or cut knurls. Different types of knurl can be made
with the same knurling wheels by turning the knurling-wheel holder:
0° straight (DIN 82 RAA), 30° diamond (DIN 82 RGE) or 45°
cross knurls. Optimum cooling is ensured by means of a quick-lock coupling
and a coolant hose. No special tool carrier is needed, since the tool
is chucked like a simple lathe cutter. The Type R knurling tool is available

for windscreen wiper units after DIN 72783. Mainly used in the automotive
industry and can be delivered with different mounting devices.
