Marking Tools

How does the marking with BÖNI Marking Tools function?

Boeni marking wheels unreel only the text length. There is thus no need to have marking wheels for each diameter.

How do I mark without C-Axis?

Start dots not accepted: stop the spindle, feed to the marking depth, start the spindle and feed away.

Start dots accepted: rotate the spindle as fast as 2 - 6 m/min. Feed to the marking depth, programm a short delay 0.02 - 0.3 seconds (this depends on the text lenght) and feed away.

What are start dots and when are they used?

Start dots are at the beginning of the text and accelerate the marking wheel when it touches the material surface.

How is the marking wheel set again to its original starting position?

The marking wheel automatically returns to its
original starting position by means of a spring

How much time does marking need?

The inscription is produced within a fraction of a second. Text lenght: (Ø x pi x rpm: 60) = seconds

Knurling Tools

How high is the cutting speed?

The cutting speed table can be found in the operating instruction manual which is supplied with the tool.
As basis, speed as of HSS.

How deep is the knurling?

Cirka 30 - 50% of the pitch, depending on the material.

Why is the knurling in a bad shape?

This can have several reasons:
The knurling wheels do not stand exactly over the center of the workpiece.

The setting depth of the knurling wheels is too large, or too small.

The maximum depth should be between 30 and 50% of the pitch.

The rpm is to fast or and the feed too small.

The rpm is to slow or and the feed motion too high.

Why is the knurling rifling?

The tool is not exact over the center of the workpiece.

With a right spin, you must adjust the tool in X+ direction.

With a left spin, you must adjust the tool in X- direction.

What are the advantages of BOENI knurling tools?

Böni knurling tools function in a fundamentally different way than
conventional knurling tools. The knurling wheels machine the
workpiece tangentially on opposite sides, so that there is no
pressure on the work and cross ball-bearing spindles.
The operating forces occurring are absorbed by the knurling tool,
regardless of whether it is cutting or rolling.
Depending on the quality of the material, we are able to cut
or roll the knurl with the same tool.

Quick-change Tool Holders

For which capacity are the quick-change Tool Holders designed?

See table in the section Quick-change Tool Holders.
